103 Illegal Immigrants Arrested In Kaduna, Face Deportation

From the table Punch news,we heard that 103 illegal immigrants from Niger Republic have been arrested in Kaduna state.

The Nigeria Immigration Service in Kaduna State on Monday said they are to be deported back to Niger.

According to reports, the Comptroller of Immigration in the state, Hamman Yeri, while parading the aliens, said they were arrested at the Government Reservation Area in Kaduna urged Nigerians to always employ only foreigners with genuine documents.

“The Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service as usual conducted mop up operations against illegal immigrants in the state. This time around, we conducted an operation in Kachia Local Government Area on May 26, and we arrested 25 illegal immigrants,” he said.

“The next day we also conducted an operation in high-brow areas of Kaduna North, which is, Ungwan Rimi GRA, Malali GRA, Ungwan Dosa and Marafa where we arrested 59 suspects.”

“Then at the Toll Gate, we arrested 17 suspects. Earlier, we arrested two suspects; so in all we have 103 suspects. We are going to repatriate them. They are all Nigeriens. They are into menial jobs; with small amount of money, one can lure them to do anything. We are sending them back by road.

“There is a particular case in Kaduna North where some Nigerians tried to prevent us from arresting the illegal aliens, so we had to arrest one of the Nigerians and brought him to our station.”

“Our borders are still in porous condition, and nothing seems to be done about them. I think these borders need more equipment, more logistics in terms of vehicles, communication equipment, and there is even the need to revive the moribund border patrol aircraft.

“Honestly, the type of aircraft we are using, the N288, is not the type that we should use for border patrol. Though they are well equipped, they cannot land immediately at a required location.

“Nigerians should help us to discourage these illegal aliens from entering the country because many of them are being engaged as security men and drycleaners by highly placed Nigerians.

“They do not bother to come to the immigration to register them. We are not saying that they should not come. All we want from them is to respect the immigration rules. They should come with their travelling documents and then pass through established immigration rules.”
