EU quizzes operators over Apple iPhone contracts

European watchdogs have invited mobile operators to weigh in on Apple’s iPhone distribution tactics, over concerns they block competition from other smartphone makers.

Operators have received a nine-page preliminary questionnaire from the European Commission, focused on whether the deals that allow them to sell the iPhone are so favourable to Apple that other manufacturers cannot compete fairly.
It asks whether clauses in the contracts guarantee that no other manufacturer gets a better deal than Apple on handset subsidies, according to The FT.
Apple is known for driving a hard bargain with operators, who believe they must offer the iPhone to compete for the most affluent subscribers. Sources at British operators said they are forced to fund Apple’s television advertising and guarantee a certain number of sales, for instance.
The Commission has information indicating that Apple and Mobile Network Operators (“MNOs”) have concluded distribution agreements which may potentially lead to the foreclosure of other smartphone manufacturers from the markets,” the questionnaire says.
The interest from regulators in Brussels comes after unidentified European mobile operators informally complained in March.

Pope Francis spoke out against mafia

Pope Francis spoke out against mafia organizations exploiting and enslaving people, calling on mafiosi on Sunday to repent in words that recalled an impassioned plea by Pope John Paul II 20 years ago.

Speaking off the cuff after his weekly Angelus blessing in St. Peter's Square, Francis spoke about the mafia for the first time since he became pontiff two months ago.

High profile killings by the Italian mafia have declined since the 1990s, but through activities such as prostitution, extortion and drug trafficking they still wield a heavy influence over the country and its economy.

Italy's main crime groups - the Sicilian Cosa Nostra, the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta and the Camorra from around the southern city of Naples - have a joint annual turnover of 116 billion euros ($150 billion), according to the United Nations.

That is more than the annual sales of Italy's biggest company, oil giant Eni.

The environment has condoled and accommodated those who profess to be men of God that don't practice what they preached. They hit you with the most frighten page in the bible and you will start to think as if the whole world is on your shoulder. DailyPost gathered that the self acclaimed Man of God was dragged out of the commercial bus and beaten into a pulp before he was rescued by some policemen.

Riot police have clashed with hundreds of troublemakers in Paris at the end of a largely peaceful march by tens of thousands of people opposed to France's new gay marriage law.

The main demonstration saw three separate processions converging on the Invalides esplanade, filling the huge promenade with pink and blue - the official colours of the anti-gay marriage movement.

By early evening, no incidents had been reported despite the presence of far-right activists, some of whom briefly unfurled a banner at the ruling Socialist party's headquarters urging President Francois Hollande to resign.

Man Puts Cameras in House to Find Ghosts, but Instead, Catches Girlfriend Sleeping with His Son

Just when you thought you might be able to catch a ghost spooking your house while you’re away, you find that you’ve been spooked by another kind of evil spirit. A man in Australia was obsessed with finding ghosts in his house, so he did what he’d seen on movies: He put a camera in the house to see what evidence he could find that ghosts were violating his home.

Instead, the man caught his teenage son violating his girlfriend, with the boy sleeping with her while he was gone. Maybe he was so focused on the ghosts that his girlfriend found other ways to fill up her free time.

Man Bathes Girlfriend With Acid

IF anyone had told Blessing Ikhumhi that Okosun Cyril, the man she once loved, would turn around and bath her with acid, she would not have believed it.

Neighbours and friends used to see the duo as Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’. But they were wrong.

Even Blessing once saw him as “the best thing that could ever happen to her,” because she never believed the words of William Shakespeare, which asserts that, “there are daggers in men’s smile.”

Their romance turned sour with tragic consequence for Blessing, a 23-year-old student of Edo State School of Health Technology. If she would ever regain her sight she would see all men as “monsters” because she has seen “hell” in the last three months as a patient at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin City.

Doctors in the hospital believe she may never see again except she is flown to a specialist hospital in India, where her sight could be restored.

France Legalises Same-sex Marriage

France has joined other countries in legalized same sex marriage. Here is what the President has to say:
President Hollande signs bill into law after Constitutional Council dismisses legal challenge by opposition party.
French President Francois Hollande has signed a gay marriage and adoption bill into law, a day after the country's Constitutional Council threw out a legal challenge by the conservative opposition.
Hollande, trying to turn the page on months of bitter opposition to the measures, said it was "time to respect the law and the Republic".
The Constitutional Council approved the bill on Friday, which was also the International Day Against Homophobia.
The ruling cleared the way for France to become the 14th country to legalise same-sex marriage.
French deputies approved the bill in parliament last month after a several days of often stormy debate.
Recent polls suggest that opinion in France is fairly evenly split on both gay marriage and adoption.

Business social networks move into education

Business social networks find it difficult to attract young users, but one is using its data to match prospective candidates with the places that they may want to study.

For young people, joining a business social network is not a priority. The ubiquity and relative fun of Facebook compared with filling in a long ‘social CV’ when they have little work experience is a challenge that many refuse to take up until they are older.

There is also the minimum age limit of 18 for LinkedIn users compared to that of 13 for Facebook. It’s almost as if business social networks want to exclude young people from their networks; perhaps they are missing a significant trick.

Church Constructs N4.5m Clinic For Adamawa Community

It will be a better idea for all churches to practice''take and give'' attitude in their various location. When you some places in Africa, you see churches every nooks and crannies with great multitude yet the road that links those churches are rough /bad waiting for Federal government to approve such places for construction. Honestly, it might not work that way because you don't expect the government to do everything.
Everyone would see a rapid development at the grassroot level when churches are allowed and committed to develop some part where they dominate. Can you see how a health clinic worth N4.5 million has been constructed by the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria for the people Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa.

Speaking at the opening of a three-day conference of the Yola diocese on Friday in Gombi, acting Bishop of the Diocese, Reverend Ishaku Bala said that the clinic was built to address the health needs of the people in the area.

Pastor Gives Followers Indian Hemp For 'Sober Reflection'

Obviously, not all pastors that dance Asonto or disco on the pulpit are actually moved by the spirit of God.We were made to understand that Holy spirit is a gentle being and that it can't communicate in a noisy environment but today you see some pastor who profess to be man of God dacing on the ultar disceiving the members.Dear  readers, I say it again and again , mind the type of church you attend. Imagine what the General overseer of Divine Justice Church, Owerri, Imo State, Pastor Clement Ezeigbo, who is currently cooling his heels in the police Anti Kidnap Unit of the state police command, told the police: “I don’t know anything about kidnapping but I am the owner of the Indian hemp (Igbo) but the good thing is that I don’t smoke it but I use it to prepare my food. Ienjoy eating food prepared with Indian hemp.”

Anti-Corruption Network Protest At The US Embassy Asking For Visa Ban On Jonathan Ministers

The Anti-Corruption Network (ACN) yesterday escalated the war over the non-war against corruption in Nigeria by sending a petition to United States President Barak Obama, citing the dangers of failing to check “corruption with impunity” in the country, and linking it with growing insecurity.
The group led by a former house of representatives member Dino Melaye led protesters to the US Embassy in Abuja to drop a letter demanding that President Obama revoke the visas of key officials of President Goodluck Jonathan's regime and their families.
“We are deeply concerned that if this gravity of corrupt practices goes on unchecked, unpunished and unabated, it will definitely worsen the unpalatable security situation and challenges we are already facing which its root course could also be traceable to destructive impact of corruption,” the group said in the letter, dated May 16 and routed through the US Ambassador in Nigeria.

THE BEST ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE 2013

Over the years, I had confidence and was able to convinced computer users that Norton has the best antivirus and internet security software based on the Norton removal tools, spyware, virus definitions update and other service that are available on their website which actually help to optimized your PC.

However, the challenge I had then was the size of the Norton software. is so large that it can take half of you system space(Norton internet security 2010 and 2011).I mean if you 're using a low grade PC, you might just end up complicating issues either the installation failed or your system did not meet the requirements.

Recently, I was not too comfortable with the Norton internet security.I understand the norton software couldn't removed or clean up the virus or spyware completely on my PC so I decided to do research to see if there are better antivirus that could perform better than Norton software.I knew some users could also be facing similar issues too but I took time to research the:protection score, the repair score and of course usability score.
Below is the rating of how well the products pass protection tests

The transport worker's grieving family covered his body with blankets and made arrangements to transfer him to a local mortuary, according to a report in the Herald newspaper.

But the next day Mr Zanthe's friends and relatives scattered in disbelief when he started moving as they filed past to say their emotional goodbyes.

Girls Face Jail For Mixing Islamic Prayer With Dancing To Pop Song

Five Indonesian teenage girls have been accused of blasphemy and may face jail after making a video in which they mixed Islamic prayer with dancing to a Maroon 5 song, police said Tuesday.
The girls were expelled from their high school in Tolitoli city, on Sulawesi island, and reported to police after the video of their dance to the US band's hit "One More Night" went viral online.
It is just the latest in a string of blasphemy cases in the world's most populous Muslim-majority country, which have prompted rights groups to call for a change in a law they say is outdated and misused.

In the five-minute clip, the girls, wearing school tracksuits, switch between Islamic prayer rituals and mostly innocent dancing, with the occasional pelvic thrust and suggestive hand gesture thrown in.

Several versions of the video on YouTube have been viewed more than 500,000 times.
