Google to replace UK National Census

Internet search engines could replace the national census by providing cheap data on citizens, a government paper has suggested.
The last census, which went out in 2011, missed out three-and-a-half million people but cost nearly half a billion pounds.
Under plans to cut down on census costs, labelled ‘Beyond 2011’, the government could collect data from search engines such as Google.
It would be a controversial move as the company is currently facing criticism for failing to cut down on child porn, and for paying minimal taxes in the UK.
Critics also believe it would be an invasion of privacy, and it raises questions about the Prime Minister’s closeness to Google.
In a bit to cut down census costs, the Office for National Statistics has investigated collecting ‘administrative data' from NHS, tax and benefit records, the electoral register, school and university rolls and other public sources.
But officials also want to use information from the private sector, from companies with databases each covering more than ten million people.

A final year student of Imo State University, Chibuzor Akobundu, has been arrested by operatives of Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, for allegedly swindling foreign women to the tune of $48,000 through a dating website.

Two men, Sola Famuyiwa and Adeniyi Owolabi were sentenced to death by hanging by an Ado-Ekiti high court on Tuesday.
The men in Ekiti will be hanged for robbing a traditional ruler in Ekiti, Oore of Otun-Ekiti, Joshua Popoola off some items including a beaded crown, 15 bundles of assorted clothes and one Mercedes Benz 280 saloon car.
This is coming barely one day after Edo State convicted four men by hanging despite pressure from civil society groups and the international community.
Tuesday's sentencing also comes despite mounting calls for the abolition of capital punishment in Nigeria and other countries still applying it.
Other items stolen during the robbery operation included one international passport with two years valid U.S. visa, N350,000 and $16,000.
The convicts committed the offence on April 3, 2002 at the palace of the traditional ruler in Ekiti State.

FG Bans Civil Servants From Chieftaincy Titles

I will applaude the Federal Government of Nigeria for the change in responsibility. At time the blames always go to the president and other politicians but the civil servants are worst when it comes to corruption. You see directors saving huge amount for Chieftaincy title.I don't what you think but i believe is a nice idea.

The Federal Government on Tuesday banned the conferment of chieftaincy titles and “other sundry awards” on civil servants until after their retirement or disengagement from service.

The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, in a circular sent to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government however directed that where the traditional titles were mandatory by inheritance, “due clearance must be obtained from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation” through his office.
A statement issued in Abuja by the Director (Communications) in the Office of the HOS, Mr. Tope Ajakaiye, said “it has come to the notice of government that some civil servants are in the practice of soliciting for chieftaincy titles and sundry awards, an act, which is inimical to the principles of anonymity, integrity and political neutrality which are the core values of the civil service.”

 The statement reads:

He said the company had observed that one of the bank's four ATMs was having a reconciliation problem and had employed the service of an expert to help unravel mysterious disappearances of money.

Aiyewunmi said, "We discovered that there was always a shortage of cash in the machine."Despite our reconciliation efforts, the ATM was still having problems and we engaged the service of an expert who submitted his report and said the machine did not have any reconciliation issue."He said somebody was breaking into the machine in the middle of the night to steal the cash.

UK High Commissioner Explains The £3,000 Visa Bonds

THE British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr Andrew Pocock, has cleared the air on the controversial £3,000 visa bonds for Nigerian visa applicants to the United Kingdom (UK).
Pocock, who met with the Nigeria’s Foreign Minister, Olugbenga Ashiru, on Tuesday, said the visa bond projects was not what was reported in most of the Nigerian media.
He added that the British government “has announced that it intends to undertake a very small scale trial of the use of financial bonds, as a way of tackling abuse in the immigration system – which occurs when some people overstay their visa terms.”
He said “the details of a pilot scheme are still being worked out,” adding that no final decision had been made.

Rotten Apple? iPhone 5 is TWICE as slow as Android rivals, claims watchdog

Do you owned one of the iphone 5, what are your observations compare to other smart phones? Comment if you actually believe that Apple iphone 5 is more or less a rotten apple?
A report from daily mail that
Geekbench tests has revealed Samsung Galaxy S4 to be the fastest smartphone Apple iPhone was shown to be bottom for processing and memory speed Technical tests showed that bigger processors do not always mean better speeds

The iPhone 5 is the slowest smartphone among the best selling brands on the market, consumer watchdog tests claim.
Technical tests to measure processing and memory speed ranked the Apple handset bottom of seven of the most popular phones on the market in the UK.
It is slower than both the main Samsung models as well as rivals from Google, Sony, HTC and Blackberry for popular tasks such as playing games, editing pictures or using apps.

And the top ranked phone, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is almost twice as fast, according to consumer champions Which? who carried out industry-recognised laboratory tests.
The findings will be a blow to those iPhone 5 fans who have wrongly assumed their trendy mobile, the best-selling in the world, is also the best.
Which? used what are known as the Geekbench speed tests. The higher the score, the faster the phone. The Samsung S4 scored 3,188 and the iPhone 1,664.

Obasanjo Dumps Politics For Evangelism, Organizes Nationwide Crusades

I read a report from daily post that the Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo may dump politics for evangelism soon, .
The Ota farmer, we gathered has joined other clerics in organising nationwide crusades.
The reason, it was learnt may no be unconnected to the fact that President Jonathan could not allow him to dictate how he wanted Nigeria to be governed.
In protest, Obasanjo was said to have dumped politics for evangelism, having been trained at the National Open University.
He was said to have teamed up with a royal father from his home town, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, Karounwi III, and the world-renowned evangelist, Kayode Williams whose ministry is Bishop Kayode Williams World Outreach, to hold crusades nationwide.
Sources disclosed that Obasanjo, Oba Tejuoso and Kayode Williams, an ex armed robber who repented while in the Sokoto prison, have begun a five-day crusade in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, yesterday.

Atiku To Jonathan: Leave PDP Alone

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the appointment of President Goodluck Jonathan as leader of a reconciliation committee that will meet with aggrieved party members across the country and resolve all pending disputes within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom had told journalists at the end of the party's National Caucus meeting in Abuja on June 18 that Mr. Jonathan would lead a panel charged with resolving the multiple crises in the party.

But in a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES, Atiku said Mr. Jonathan's interest and ambition to re-contest in 2015 were at the core of the crises rocking the party and that the President could not be a judge in his own case.

"The President has no business setting up any committee on party matters when his interests are widely believed to be central to the ongoing acrimony within the party," the former vice president said. "It is therefore imperative that we establish an independent committee comprised of credible and neutral members to look into the crises of the party dispassionately and offer a lasting solution because no one can impose their preferred solution on a Party as diverse as our own.

All members must be treated fairly whether or not they belong to the President's camp. Otherwise, we will force people to exercise other options available to them, which the Party may not like."

Messi Father's charged for tax fraud!

Barcelona star Lionel Messi and his father, Jorge, have been indicted on tax fraud charges and a court hearing has been scheduled for September 17, according to El Pais.
PA Photos
Messi and his father both deny any wrongdoing
Public prosecutor Raquel Amado filed a complaint at a Barcelona district court on June 12 alleging that the reigning, four-time World Player of the Year evaded €4.2 million in tax between 2007 and 2009, the Spanish newspaper reports.
Messi has denied any wrongdoing - as has his father - and his lawyers issued a statement last week saying that he "has always punctually attended to his fiscal obligations".
The case was submitted at the court in Gava, near the Mediterranean coastal town where Messi lives. If found guilty, and barring an out-of-court deal with the tax office, Messi and his father could face two to six years in jail, according to Professor Sandalio Gomez, a sports finance analyst at the IESE Business School.
In the complaint, state prosecutor Raquel Amado alleges that from 2006-09 Messi "obtained significant revenue derived from the transfer to third parties of his image rights, income which should have been taxed".

Jeremy Forrest trial: Teacher and schoolgirl mouth 'I love you' as he is found guilty of child abduction

Runaway teacher Jeremy Forrest and his teenage pupil mouthed 'I love you' to each other as he was found guilty of child abduction today.
The schoolgirl, now 16, broke down in tears as Forrest, 30, was convicted by a jury at Lewes Crown Court after less than two hours of deliberating.
The maths teacher and his 15-year-old pupil fled to France after their relationship was about to be exposed in September last year.
Forrest booked a cross-Channel ferry from Dover to Calais with the schoolgirl, from Bishop Bell C of E School in Eastbourne, East Sussex, before spending seven days on the run.
Scots-born Forrest, of Chislehurst Road, Petts Wood, Kent, was convicted by the jury following an eight-day trial at Lewes Crown Court.
He was labelled a "paedophile" by the prosecution, who said he "groomed" the vulnerable teenager and his actions were a gross breach of trust.
Sitting 8ft behind Forrest in the public gallery as the jury filtered into court, Forrest turned to the teenager and mouthed "I love you".
As the foreman of the jury announced the verdict, the girl put her head in her hands and burst out crying.
He remained stony-faced as the verdict was given, while the schoolgirl mouthed "I love you".
Forrest then turned and said "I'm ok", to which she replied "I'm so sorry".

Rihanna Hits Fan With Microphone At Concert

The singer was performing "We Found Love" at a concert in the UK,and came down from the stage to reach out to her fans, when one overzealous fan refused to let go of her arm. The video of the incident that surfaced online shows Rihanna attempting to move along but getting pulled back by the fan's grip. In turn, Rihanna immediately smacked the fan over the head with the microphone before moving on to continue her set as if nothing happened.
Rihanna was her usual unapologetic self following the occurrence, saying on Twitter that her actions were intentional. "Purpose! That b— won't let me go," she wrote in response to a user who called it an "accident."
Rihanna is no stranger to obsessive fans. When she isn't being clung to at concerts, she's being stalked by crazies. A man was recently arrested on the roof of Rihanna's Pacific Palisades home, and in February a separate man pleaded guilty to breaking in to the singer's home and sleeping in one of her beds.

200 Nigerian Girls Trafficked To Russia Monthly – Ambassador

Nigeria’s ambassador to Russia has said that no fewer than 200 Nigerians girls are trafficked every month into Moscow.
Ambassador Asam Asam, who disclosed this in an interview in Berlin, said that the crime had declined in Western Europe following strict laws on illegal migration and joint efforts by the Nigerian government.
However, attention had shifted to Eastern Europe as the new destination for the trade.
“The major consular challenge we face in Moscow is the influx of trafficked persons from Nigeria. Not less than 200 girls are trafficked every month, and we have so many of them exposed to danger,” the ambassador revealed.
“Some are thrown out of the window and treated harshly. There must be a way of stopping these racketeering , these girls are not tourists, students or government officials yet they are given visas from the Russian embassy in Abuja.”

Residents from various parts of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have been trying to catch a glimpse of a baby allegedly born with a miniature Quran at 9, Oguntade Street, Shasha area of the state.
Although its scientifically impossible, residents of the area say it is true even though some of them confessed that they did not see the baby clutching the miniature Quran, the holy book of the Muslims. They were only told about it.

Poll Reveals Nigerians Support Anti Same-Sex Bill

A new weekly poll has revealed that 92 per cent of Nigerians are in support of the proposed Anti Same-Sex Bill. The weekly poll conducted by NOI Polls Limited from June 4 - 6 in Nigeria also revealed that the reason behind their support revolve around morality and religion.

According to results of the poll, most Nigerians are of the opinion that the proposed bill is not an infringement on the human rights of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) community because homosexuality is not in their culture as Nigerians. These are two of the key findings from the recent Fundamental Human Rights Poll.

The House of Representatives had on May 30th 2013, passed the Anti Same Sex Marriage Bill that makes same-sex unions in Nigeria a criminal offence punishable by a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison. The bill also criminalises public displays of affection by same-gender partners.

The bill also states that "any person who registers, operates or participates in gay clubs, societies and organisations directly or indirectly, makes a public show of a same-sex amorous relationship commits an offence and shall be liable to a term of 10 years imprisonment."

Wife, 20, Accuses Husband of Sodomy, Drags Him to Sharia Court

A 20-year-old house wife, Aisha Sani, of Nasarawa Kakuri in Kaduna has dragged her husband to the Magajin Gari Sharia Court, accusing him of sodomy and battery.

She told the court on Monday that her husband, Abubakar Usman, was allegedly sodomising her after enchanting her with charms.

According to her, the husband uses charms which makes her unconscious whenever he wants to make love to her through the anus.

Aisha also contended that Usman used to beat her whenever she complained, a situation which made her to vacate her matrimonial home six weeks ago.

Usman, 30, who resides at Hayin Rigasa area of the city, denied the allegation.

He said the marriage was contracted only six months ago and was yet to understand why the wife was accusing him of sodomy.

He told the court that he would accede to the wife's request if she would pay back the dowry paid on her.

The presiding officer, Khadi Usman Abubakar, summoned the parents of the couple to appear before the court on June 24, for continuation of hearing.

Baby Stolen From Imo State Maternity Ward After Birth

There is nothing as painful as nursing a pregnancy for nine months and losing the baby immediately after birth. That is the agony Mrs. Ezinne Chukwuemaka Osuji has been subjected to by those who stole her son a few hours after the baby was born on 5 June, 2013 at a 'Maternity home' in Nworiebi, headquarters of Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
The incident has generated a huge public outcry, prompting the arrest of the owner of Elizabeth Maternity Home, Mrs. Elizabeth Obi and her daughter by officers from the Police Divisional Headquarters who transferred the case to the Imo State Criminal Investigations Department and the child trafficking unit.

It is the worst form of treatment a mother could be put through in a so-called maternity home. It is not a surprise to many that this is happening in Imo State at a time girls are impregnated and their babies are sold after delivery to child trafficking syndicates that buy babies and sell them to make profit as if the babies are ordinary commodities that could be bought and sold in the open market.

The theft of Mrs. Osuji's son could be the fallout of the crackdown on owners of 'baby factories' in the state who have resorted to another easy way of continuing with their evil trade by stealing new babies from maternity homes.

Covenant University’s Former Vice-Chancellor Suspended For Examination Fraud

Professor Aize Obayan, a former Vice Chancellor of Covenant University, Ota has been suspended from her position as director of the Education Commission of the Winners Chapel by the church's general overseer, Bishop David Oyedepo.
Ms. Obayan was suspended for reportedly altering examination results for several students in the department of Mass Communications. Among the students who benefited from the former VC's grade alteration was Ms. Obayan's own daughter. The former VC was accused of perpetrating the academic fraud during her tenure.
The former VC's daughter graduated with a Second Class Upper Division in Mass Communication and is currently doing her National Youth Service Corps service. A source at the university revealed that Ms. Obayan inflated all of her daughter's scores, otherwise the young woman would have earned a Third Class degree.
The former VC had re-introduced make-up examination without proper authorization - and after the university's Senate had abolished the option. "She introduced make-up exam to enable her daughter [to] retake the course she failed," said a source. Recently, a Dr. Omojola, a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, petitioned the Chancellor of the University after his first protest was suppressed by the then VC. In his protest, Mr. Omojola alleged that Nnamdi Ekeanyanwu, the acting Head of Department of Mass Communication, had engaged in extensive alteration of students' examination results. The petition led to Mr. Ekeanyanwu's removal as Head of Department.

IBB To Expose Buhari Over Missing $2.8B Oil Money

A complex situation that may be too hot to handle may soon erupt between two former heads of states, General Buhari and General Babangida over political differences.
Babagida has threatened to bring up an issue that seems likely to create conflicts if not quenched now.

"On Gen. Buhari, it is not in IBB's tradition to take up issues with his colleague former President. But for the purpose of record, we are conversant with Gen. Buhari's so-called holier-than-thou attitude.

"He is a one-time Minister of Petroleum and we have good records of his tenure as minister. Secondly, he also presided over the Petroleum Trust Fund ( PTF) which records we also have. We challenge him to come out with clean hands in those two portfolios he headed. Or, we will help him to expose his "records of performance during those periods. Those who live in glass houses do not throw stones. Gen. Buhari should be properly guided."

A complete human beings sold for N40,000...........Wickedness to the highest order

Operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja have arrested three fleeing members of a syndicate who allegedly specialized in selling live humans and decomposing human parts for money rituals.
Their arrest came barely three weeks after some of their members were paraded at the Lagos State Police Command, where they confessed to have sold live human beings for N40,000, hands-N4,000 and head-N8,000.
Those recently arrested are Gazali Akewadola (60), the native doctor who allegedly offered N40,000 for a live human being, Alfa Taofeek Akinola (35) and Kazeem Sanni (25).
To the bewilderment of all, Gazali confessed that live human beings were cheaper than buying dead human parts, saying all parts of a live human being are vital in the preparation of money ritual.
For instance, he said a life human being was bought for N40,000, "but at the end of the day, you get a lot of expensive parts from it. Aside that, it is even more potent because the efficacy of the charm or concoction prepared with live human parts cannot be compared with the ones prepared with dead parts.

inefficient and low productivity in the office is inevitable

Inefficient and low productivity in the office is inevitable when some bank managers and private employers believe over-working your employees or workers will rate your performance high in the competitive world , I stand to tell you that your believe is a fallacy and it won’t help you or your organisations.
The employers should know that the human body is totally different from a computer programmed machine that is specifically designed to run a particular task.
The human brain is always working all through the day calculating your schedule, family, kids, partner, and future till when you fall asleep at night.
It is therefore paramount for employers to at least send their staff on vacation, give them leave to have fun and get refresh. I bet you when they resume, you will see a better result on their performance report.

Jiroemon Kimura, the world's oldest person, and the oldest man to have ever lived, has died at the age of 116.

Kimura – who was born on 19 April 1897, when Queen Victoria was on the British throne – died of natural causes early on Wednesday, Japanese media said.
The Kyoto prefecture resident became the oldest man in recorded history in late December 2012 at the age of 115 years and 253 days, following the death of Dina Manfredini, an Italian-American who lived in Iowa. The longest-living person in history was Jeanne Calment, a French woman who died in 1997 at the age of 122.
Kimura died in hospital in his hometown of Kyotango, local government officials said. He had been receiving treatment for pneumonia since late last month.
In a sign of Japan's extraordinary longevity, his successor as the world's oldest person is compatriot Misao Okawa, a 115-year-old Osaka woman who already holds the title of the world's oldest woman.
Until his death Kimura was one of only a dozen people alive who were born in the 1890s. He lived through the reign of four Japanese emperors and the administrations of 61 prime ministers.
Kimura conceded that he spent a lot of time in bed at the home he shared with his grandson's widow, Eiko Kimura, who served him his favourite breakfast of rice porridge and miso soup.
He put his longevity down to waking early, eating small amounts, reading the newspaper and watching parliamentary debates on television.

The Edo State Government banned the use of Motor cycle in Benin

The Governor, who announced the ban to newsmen on Tuesday afternoon after the weekly security meeting, said the ban is limited to the three local Government areas which make up Benin City including Ikpoba Okha, Oredo and Egor Local Government Areas.
Governor Oshiomhole said it is now increasingly evident that many of the kidnappers in the state are Okada riders.
He said that the state has become a haven for criminals and other Okada riders who migrated to Edo State following similar ban in other states.
The Governor appealed to the Okada riders to bear with the government as they were compelled to make this decision.
The Governor also said that the security agencies have resolved to commence random checks of the private security personnel employed by residents in the state to determine if they are Nigerians and have valid papers to reside here as it has been discovered that they have largely been the informants in cases of kidnapping.
He advised residents of the state to properly scrutinize those they employ as helps and security personnel.

Mikel defies doctors’ orders to play on artificial turf

I got a report that the Super Eagles’ midfielder, John Obi Mikel, who has not played for Nigeria on an artificial turf since he joined Chelsea, will defy the club doctor’s orders to play against Namibia on synthetic pitch Wednesday in Windhoek.
Mikel has suffered a recurring back injury and only recently nursed a hip injury with Chelsea doctors maintaining he should avoid playing on the hard surface of an artificial pitch.
Mikel shone in Monday’s training along with goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and Kenneth Omeruo, who is soon to join the Stamford Bridge side. Incidentally, Galatasaray-target Mikel has often been knocked for not showing enough commitment to the national team.
Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi told MTNFootball.com that he does not expect any of his players to struggle with playing on the astro turf at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek.
“I don’t expect us to have any problems with the pitch. We have trained on astro turf and just decided to use grass today (Monday). Tomorrow (Tuesday) we will train at the match ground again,” he said.
The Eagles on Monday had an hour’s training session in the cold in Windhoek with temperature going to as low as six degrees.
Keshi also declared that his team is battle ready for the Brave Warriors in Namibia.

67-Year-Old Man Commits Suicide In church Premises

In an effort to save his pregnant wife and their child, a man walked through forest for about 40km in heavy rains carrying the ailing woman on his shoulders to get her to a hospital, India.
The tribal youth, Ayyappan, carried his seven-month pregnant wife, Sudha set off for the hospital from the Konni forests on Tuesday last week.
Ayappan walked to Kokkathod, said to be about 40km from the place he was staying in the forest, and then managed to get a jeep to take his wife to Pathnamthitta district hospital from where she was referred to Kottayam medical college hospital as she had convulsions.
"The woman's life had been saved since she was carried all the way, but the baby could not be saved.
Labour was induced for the delivery of the dead foetus," Dr Kunjamma Roy, head of the Gynaecology department of the Kottayam Medical college hospital told PTI.
The delivery was on Wednesday and the mother is recovering, she said.
When the woman was brought to the hospital, she had oedema, high blood pressure and convulsions. Convulsions during pregnancy can affect both mother and child, Dr Roy said.
The couple were living in the Konni forests and eked out a living by selling honey and various other products from the forest.
As media reports came in about the couple, offers of financial assistance have started pouring in.

Man Walks 40km Through Forest With Pregnant Wife On Shoulder To Save Her Life

I agreed that human satisfactions are unlimited but you just have to appreciate God with the little you have and that you don't reside in the a forest.

A 22-year-old driver killed her boyfriend in a car crash

A 22-year-old driver killed her boyfriend in a car crash following a 'silly' argument over the volume on her car radio.
Laura Hauerslev had a headache and tried to turn down the volume but lost control of her car before it crashed into a tree, killing 24-year-old Alec Pearn.
A judge today heard that the victim’s family did not want her sent to jail after she admitted causing death by careless driving.
Exeter Crown Court heard that Hauerslev was angry with her boyfriend because he wouldn’t get up off a sofa and kept her waiting for 15 minutes in her car before they travelled to her family home in Broadwoodwidger, Devon.
The night before the couple had a late night and were not on the best of terms the next day.
Prosecutor Peter Coombe said they headed off one Sunday afternoon last September.
He said: 'When they moved off they were not speaking. He was mucking about with the radio. She had a headache coming on.'
He said the couple turned the volume of the radio up and down as they had a row about which station to listen to.
But Hauerslev took her eyes off the old A30 road and hit a kerb, causing the car to swerve and snake as she lost control of the green Citroen Saxo.
Mr Pearn, who was not wearing his seat belt, tried to grab the steering wheel but Mr Coombe said ‘it was too late’ and the car rolled and struck the tree with its roof and bonnet.
The court heard Hauerslev and Mr Pearn were very tired after their night out in Cornwall.
The defendant appeared to be asleep with her head in her hands before they set off on their trip, the victim’s mother Mandy said.

Programme claims it can make ANY woman pregnant in 24 weeks

Tragically, for increasing numbers of couples, starting a family isn't as simple as it's supposed to be.
Whether it's polycystic ovaries, a low sperm count or, worst of all, unexplained infertility, many are forced to make the heartbreaking decision to spend their savings on IVF or give up on their dreams of family life altogether.
But a solution could be on the horizon courtesy of a groundbreaking new method called 'Neuroscientific Fertility Treatment', which is claimed to have results within 24 weeks.
The new treatment focuses on removing mental blockages that prevent pregnancy and reducing the stress hormone cortisol, which can also impede conception.
As well as improving patients' mental state, the treatment programme also helps boost physical health - creating the optimum conditions for conception.
Other recommendations include having regular sex throughout the cycle in order to reduce pressure during fertile times and staying hydrated.
Created by neuroscientist, Dr Michael Arnold, the programme is totally natural and, according to Arnold, has a success rate of between 66 and 77 per cent depending on the reason for infertility.
Other research carried out by Arnold and his team found that 75 per cent of couples who committed to at least 20 treatments over a six month period achieved a successful pregnancy, compared to just  32.3 per cent with IVF.

U.S. International Trade Commission Finds Apple Violated Samsung Patents on Older iPhone, iPad

I know this news is kind of old but for the benefit of those who didn't get the news should get the update of the battle between Apple and Samsung
A U.S. trade agency on Tuesday issued a ban on imports of Apple's iPhone 4 and a variant of the iPad 2 after finding the devices violate a patent held by South Korean rival Samsung Electronics.
Because the devices are assembled in China, the import ban would end Apple's ability to sell them in the U.S.
However, President Barack Obama has 60 days to invalidate Tuesday's order from the U.S. International Trade Commission in Washington. Obama is against import bans on the basis of the type of patent at issue in the Samsung case. On Tuesday, the White House issued a recommendation to Congress that it limit the ITC's ability to impose import bans in these cases.
Apple Inc. said it was "disappointed" with the ruling and will appeal.

Bakers sitting on already manufactured bread

Do you eat bread as much as I do? You have to be careful and watchful of the kind of bread you buy, where it's been manufactured and how clean is the environment.
Putting all that into consideration will not completely proof hygiene but to some extent you could save yourself and family.
This photo shows how bakers turned already baked bread to a resting wall.

BlackBerry NOT Launching BBM for iOS, Android on June 27

Though word spread today that BlackBerry is planning to launch its BBM instant messaging service on iOS and Android June 27, a spokeswoman for the company said that date is "completely inaccurate."
"While there have been reports that BBM will be available to iOS and Android on June 27th, this is not accurate," BlackBerry said in a statement to PCMag on Thursday. "We will communicate an update as soon as we have an availability date to share."
BlackBerry on May 14 announced it would make BBM available to iOS and Android users at some point this summer, subject to approval by the Apple App Store and Google Play, but did not provide an exact date.
This week, however, a tweet from T-Mobile's U.K. account said: "Great news - BlackBerry Messenger will be available to download on iOS and Android from June 27th!"

Teenagers arrested over Islamic boarding school blaze

Four teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at an Islamic boarding school.
Almost 130 pupils and teachers had to be evacuated from the Darul Uloom London Islamic School in Chislehurst, south east London, after a fire broke out.
Scotland Yard said two 17-year-olds and two 18-year-olds were detained late last night and taken to a south London police station, where they remain in custody.
Two boys suffered smoke inhalation following the blaze, which took place just before midnight on Saturday at the school in Foxbury Avenue.
Police have said there will now be increased police patrols.
The fire comes days after an Islamic Centre in Muswell Hill was burned to the ground, being daubed with the letters EDL, and just weeks after the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich.
Metropolitan Police commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe said: "These are difficult times for London's communities.
"The Met is now investigating suspicious fires at two locations within the Islamic community which have happened in the past few days. Fortunately no one has been hurt, but we know that fires can often prove fatal.
"So I want to reassure people that we are using our full range of policing tactics to protect sites that might be vulnerable.

House Wife Bathes Husband's Mistress With Acid

There is a page in the Holy Book that says the heart of a man is deliberately wicked.
The case of acid bathing is on the increase over the years now. And I advise the Government shouldn't overlook the issue that is threaten our society. At least, constitutions and law should be introduce to eradicate this ugly mess. Why bathing another with acid when the issue can be revolve amicably. Amaze, this happen among the closest people such as husband and wife, boyfriend his girlfriend, a house wife and another woman. And now, we have Mrs Suzanna Fawole (38), in Osun State has been remanded in Ife prisons after she allegedly bathed one Funmilayo Aderibigbe (35), whom she suspected to be her husband’s lover, with acid.

TRIBUNE reports May 6, was like any other day for Aderibigbe who resides on Adeboye Street, Ife-Modakeke road. Set for the day ahead, she went ahead to prepare herself for the activities she had lined up for herself, oblivious of what was in stock for her.

Before the end of the day, however, her once-beautiful physique which made her the toast of all, suddenly crumpled under the subduing power of acid. She was almost turned into a monster such as ones usually seen in horror movies after she was allegedly bathed with acid by Fawole.

MTN: 285 expatriates replaced with Nigerian

Kudos to the Leading digital mobile operator, MTN Nigeria Communications Limited, for replacing 285 expatriates with Nigerian workers in a move to save costs and also encourage local content in the company.
The Corporate Service Executive, MTN, Mr. Wale Goodluck, disclosed this at MTN Leadership Forum in Abuja, where leading management author, Dr. Ram Charan, spoke on the imperatives of growing the Nigerian economy.
Goodluck said at the time MTN entered Nigeria in 2001, the company had expatriate staff of 300, but added that the burden of catering for the large expatriate workers was heavy, thereby informing the decision to replace them with Nigerians.
He said MTN was able to replace the expatriates through the twin policy of poaching Nigerians in the Diaspora and investing in the training of local engineers.
Goodluck added that the investment of the company in training of Nigerian engineers had paid off, with MTN now sending them to work in other countries.

Wonders they say shall never end as 66-YEAR-OLD man who went to the doctors with stomach ache got a shock - when he was told he was actually a WOMAN.
Stunned doctors realised the bearded patient was actually a woman when they found that the swollen belly was actually a large cyst on her ovary.
