Dead people have donated $600,000 to politicians since 2009

And no, ghosts aren't messing with our democracy
Political contributions from deceased individuals totaled nearly $600,000 over the last few years, according to a USA Today analysis.
Since the start of 2009, 32 people listed as dead on federal campaign documents gave $586,000 to presidential and congressional candidates, USA Today found. Though that may sound impossible, or at the least nefarious, it's technically legal.
Indeed, there are acceptable ways for people to donate money after their deaths. However, the cases are extremely rare and are, by their nature, "potentially problematic," Larry Noble, an attorney and former head of the Center for Responsive Politics, told Open Secrets back in 2011.
"Generally, the dead aren't supposed to give," he said.
So how do they pull it off? People can establish charitable trusts prior to their deaths with specific instructions on how to spend the money. Political donations from such trusts, called testamentary bequests, are subject to the same restrictions imposed on donations from the living.
For example, the donations can't be made in someone else's name, and they must total less than $5,200 for a single candidate in an election cycle, or less than $32,400 for a party in a single year. People in charge of the trusts can't donate to a PAC they're affiliated with.

SHANGHAI (AP) — The world's second-tallest building is nearing completion in Shanghai's financial hub.The building will be China's tallest building. The final beam was hoisted to the top of the skyscraper and installed in a flag-waving ritual on Saturday.
At 632 meters (2,073 feet), the Shanghai Tower in the city's Pudong district is the world's second-tallest building, surpassed only by Dubai's Burj Khalifa, which soars 829.8 meters (2,722 feet).
Workers will now concentrate on the building's interior construction. Once it is completed next year, the Shanghai Tower will have retail and office space, a luxury hotel and likely a museum.
"I'm very proud," Wu Weiming, who helped installed the last beam, told reporters.

U.S. extends embassy closings, lawmakers say threat serious

(Report from Reuters) - The United States extended embassy closures by a week in the Middle East and Africa as a precaution on Sunday after an al Qaeda threat that U.S. lawmakers said was the most serious in years.

The State Department said 19 U.S. embassies and consulates would be closed through Saturday "out of an abundance of caution" and that a number of them would have been closed anyway for most of the week due to the Eid celebration at the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The United States initially closed 21 U.S. diplomatic posts for the day on Sunday. Some of those will reopen on Monday, including Kabul, Baghdad and Algiers.

Four new diplomatic posts - in Madagascar, Burundi, Rwanda and Mauritius - were added to the closure list for the week.

Last week, the State Department issued a worldwide travel alert warning Americans that al Qaeda may be planning attacks in August, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa.

"There is an awful lot of chatter out there," U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss, the top Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

He said the "chatter" - communications among terrorism suspects about the planning of a possible attack - was "very reminiscent of what we saw pre-9/11."

Teenage Lesbians Take Over Delta Schools

Ever wondering if parents that believe their children are safer in the hostel are priviledge to read this story as reported by leadership news paper that:Some teenage secondary school students across Delta State have taken to lesbianism, and are taking the abhorred act to public and private schools, as well as nooks and crannies in the State.

LEADERSHIP Friday reliably gathered that these teenage lesbians have formed themselves into a cult called Missing in Action, a fraternity which has been alleged to possess deadly charms and weapons.

Sources squealed that six popular public secondary schools in the Warri/Asaba area (names withheld) allegedly have the highest number of members, who are sent out almost on a daily basis to woo unsuspecting primary school girls to be part of them.

Police spokesman in the State, ASP Lucky Uyabeme, confirmed that last week 16 girls were arrested around Umuagu/Ogbeke Square celebrating in a hotel (name withheld) after their initiation. Uyabeme disclosed that upon interrogation, the girls confessed to being lesbians introduced into the new cult. They were subsequently arraigned at the Magistrate Court III, Asaba.

At a popular secondary school for girls, members of the group who are said to be students in JSS II and III allegedly woo their female teachers with gifts, including attractive photographs of them involved in sexual activities with other girls.

Phase I & II Club House around DLA road in Asaba is the alleged training centre for new entrants, where they are indoctrinated by others who have been long involved in the act.

There, checks revealed, fierce security men are positioned to collect ‘gate fees’ from unsuspecting members of the public who are interested in the ‘live shows’, where the acts are performed and Indian hemp is passed around.

One of the girls, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said “we don’t need any man; we hate men and when they come around us we will kill them”.
What is your advise for the parents?

Girl gets stuck inside grabbing machine after climbing inside for a toy

Girl gets stuck inside grabbing machine after climbing inside for a toy
Trying to win a toy on a grabbing machine can be a frustrating pursuit, but one girl became completely stuck after she decided the claw was too tricky and climbed inside.
Her parents looked on in panic as they realised she was trapped in the grabbing machine at Thorpe Park, Surrey, on Sunday.
Despite their concern, the girl was pictured standing calmly among the toy Marios and Luigis, as the large metal claw dangled above her head.
Staff at the theme park eventually unlocked a side door of the machine and let the young girl out.
Nicola Swift, a company director from near Hindhead, Surrey, who was at the theme park with her two children, said people tried to push the girl back out of the flap without any success.
“The little girl in the grabber machine wasn’t making a sound but the father seemed quite worried”, Ms Swift told the Daily Mirror.

Vincent Enyeama now No.1 at Lille

Nigeria international, Vincent Enyeama, has been declared first-choice goalkeeper at French Ligue 1 side, Lille Metropole for the 2013/14 season.
According to L’Equipe, Lille manager, Rene Girard, has decided to put Enyeama ahead of Frenchman, Steeve Elana in the pecking order of goalkeepers at the club.
“Vincent Enyeama (30 years) will be the number one goalkeeper of Lille next season as RenĂ© Girard has decided,” reported L’Equipe on Wednesday.
In the wake of the development, Nigeria goalkeepers trainer, Ike Shorunmu said he was not surprised that Enyeama has been elevated to number one at Lille.
“Honestly I’m happy for him and it shows that he is our best and one of the best in Africa and the world at the moment. I am not surprised that he is now number one at his club,” Shorunmu was quoted as saying on supersport.com.
“You know every coach has different philosophy or plan, so I believe his present coach feels Enyeama is good enough to be number one and I am happy that has happened and it is an advantage to us at the national team.”
Since joining Lille in 2011, Enyeama played second-choice to Mickael Landreau before he went on loan to Maccabi Tel-Aviv last season.
After Landreau’s departure to Bastia in January this year, Elana became number one while Enyeama was away on loan.
This latest news has put an end to the club future of Enyeama, who had already been linked with a likely return to Israel.

Oshiomhole Challenges Leaders To Provide Good Education

The Edo state government has made an appeal to leaders to provide good and sound education for its citizens as it is the bedrock of every development.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole said this during a town hall meeting organized to discuss the state of education in Benin, the state capital.

Oshiomhole said the state government’s target is to have every child of school age in school by providing free, compulsory and quality Basic Education.

He also said that the state has found out that some teachers in public schools are unqualified and that teachers no longer retire due to age falsification. He noted that only 1,287 out of 14,454 primary school teachers have records without discrepancies.

The State Governor further noted that many local government councils in the state cannot afford to pay primary school teachers, which is their basic responsibility, due to unchanging salary figures over the years.

He added that the state has introduced electronic payment of teachers’ salaries to eliminate fraud in the system.

A traditional ruler, HRH Kelvin Danesi Aidenojie of South Ibie Kingdom raised the issue of unqualified and insufficient teachers in the rural areas.

The state Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Mr. Patrick Ikosimi said the governor’s figures were not authentic and that those in the civil service should also be reviewed in terms of age and qualification.

Earlier in a welcome address, the state Commissioner for Education, Washington Osifo encouraged teachers to be committed to their job and be good role models for their wards to emulate.
