New zealand Legalise same-sex marriage yesterday.OMG!
Celebrities and world media have shown keen interest in New Zealand's approval of gay marriage.
New Zealand last night became the 13th country to legalise gay marriage and the first in the Asia-Pacific to do so.
US talk show host Ellen de Generes tweeted "It's It's a big day for Kiwis! New Zealand's marriage equality bill passed!"
A conscience vote in Parliament passed the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Bill with a convincing 77-44 vote.
American musician Macklemore tweeted that the decision was "beautiful".
New Zealand is the first country in the Asia-Pacific region to legalised same-sex marriage. The broadcaster posted a video of the outcome of the vote being announced in parliament to cheers and applause.
The BBC also carried a map showing the 13 countries which allow gay marriage.
