The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and Lagos State Health Facility Monitoring Agency (HEFAMA) yesterday arrested Michael Akorful Onyeagolo for posing as a medical doctor in a popular hospital in Festac, Lagos.
Confessing, Michael, about 28 years old, aka Dr. Hilary Abiwu, said he stole the certificates in Ghana from a doctor and that he was not a medical doctor. Nemesis caught up with him when he mismanaged a patient brought to the hospital for treatment. Onyeagolo further confessed that it was a businessman friend identified as Obinna Uche who gave him the certificate with which he has been working with. Michael claimed he could not complete his course in Ukraine due to his witness to a crime in Ukraine and he had to run away from the place.

But after interrogation by Dr. Okwuokenye Henry, HOD, Inspection Department who led the team, and Dr. Theophilus Ajayi, it was confirmed that Onyeagaolo stole the certificates himself after staying with Dr. Abiwu for about two months in Ghana. It was on the verge of presenting his certificates and registered for assessment examination done by foreign medical students which he failed twice but passed on the third sitting that the certificates were discovered to be stolen from another doctor in Ghana. Michale has been a wanted man since then until report came that he mismanaged a patient.
