IT Managers should know the disadvantages of Cloud Computing

Truly, there’s no perfection when it comes to technology development. Starting from the design stages to when it is claimed ready to be used by the end-users. I’m not surprised because people put their brains together to implement the design. Have you ever considered why your calls dropped when having a good conversation with love ones or business partners, even when your bandwidth is fantastic yet you experience down-time, purchased licensed applications and you don’t get to enjoy the full features? These are one of the reasons why IT managers should not be too excited over cloud computing. The design and features could be so brilliant but have you thought of the bottle-necks when the chips are down?
Some business owners and public organization are thinking very fast in cutting down the cost of hiring, purchasing, managing IT gadgets but the truth remains relying so much on cheaper gadgets

Drones banned from Philadelphia skies for pope's visit

Few weeks ago, I mentioned on this blog how drones that were designed to help in performing series of task are presently been used by criminals. As a result, crimes of different levels are on the increase since the inception of drones. I read about it that Indian in 2014 banned the use of drones but many people did not know why. Some online retailers have started using it to deliver goods to their customers. Sadly, the negative impact would certainly discourage some customers from patronizing it. According to Reuters, U.S. regulators will ban drones and other unmanned aircraft during Pope Francis' visit to Philadelphia next month as part of security measures being implemented for the two-day event, officials said on Thursday.

Read how a drone was used to deliver drug at the prison

A few years ago when  I read about the benefits of drones to man which includes: delivering of goods purchased online, tracing of crime scenes, monitoring of oil theft, terrorist, flood disaster and its environmental impact. I was among the millions that believed the world is going to be a better place to live in soon with such a fantastic innovation. Little did I know such a beautiful device can also be used to ridicule the society, to an extent of delivering drugs in the prison? What's the tendency that sooner or later this same device won’t be used to deliver a bomb in a gathering place, market or congregation?
It is hard time our intelligence teams become more vibrant, vigilant and technologically creative if the world must subdue her enemies.

Oolu Is Bringing Solar Energy To West Africa’s Off-Grid Population

For those of us that so much believed “Powering African Continent” is an expensive dream that would take decades to be completed may be right but depends on the perspective at which individual is looking at it.
No doubt Africa is large, yet I have a strong conviction within that everything is possible depends on who is leading the group. With good management, the right approach is applied, cooperation from both the management and the consumers, rules and regulations are maintain or sustain, create awareness, elaborate more on the benefits, trust me why won’t it be possible to light up Africa and make it a better place to live in?
Most of the developed countries in the world today can boast of constant electricity without fear? The question is; how do they do it? simply good management team is the answer.
I will like to join the rest of Africans to appreciate the innovation Oolu and his teams has taken to provide Africa solar energy. According to techcrunch,
Oolu, a Y Combinator company launching today, aims to reduce this number by delivering affordable solar energy to West Africa’s off-grid population, beginning in Senegal.
Despite the surge of innovation in solar storage and panel technology, Oolu founder Daniel Rosa says that many people living in rural areas of West Africa still walk miles to the nearest city to charge their cellphones and purchase kerosene for lanterns.

What do you know about Windows 10?

I want to say so far, Microsoft has not done badly. This is not to say they are perfect in software development. But by giving hears to clients all over the world is appreciating.Customer’s opinions, suggestions and emotion are taken care off. I remember when windows 8 was launched some years back, customers all over the world complained bitterly regarding the removal of ''start up button'' on windows which I believed has been restore on windows 10.
I would advise you my dear readers not to be in a rush downloading windows 10 simply because is free. But if you do that, simply back up you stuffs on external hard drive especially the old eligible PC. The launch of windows 10 continues, but wondering when it will be launched in Africa.

How human error send a mother to an early grave

It actually gets me worried as in when and  how would human error be eliminated.Like seriuosly,it has caused  humanity so much disaster.I remembered vividly when a researcher said to me that out of hundred percent accident that ever happened to man and his environment,99 percent are caused by human error,I mean both domestic and non-domestic accident. Now, I have come to agreed and believed that the world would be a better place if and only human errors are eliminated totally.

Don't be perplexed, haven't you see a driver driving without side-mirror,almost all the (commercial cyclist) popularly known as okada riders don't even use side mirrors, tall buildings with bad elevator but decided to manage it,constructing a street without adequate drainages, faulty household electrical appliances yet you want to manage it simply no enough money put them in other........haba!We just need to turn a new leaf. Regulation Tightened for Music Websites Published

  According to Source: China Daily

Music websites that continue to offer unlicensed music after July 31 will be "seriously punished", according to the official website of the National Copyright Administration.

The measure is part of this year's Jianwang Operation, an annual nationwide campaign against online intellectual property rights

Exoskeleton for Industral workers

Truly, artificial intelligence is fast displacing human intelligence but I don't know if the negative effect is been considered during the development stage. A situation where hundreds or thousands of bankers are sacked annually because of the new trend in technology development, shops and malls are shutting down as a result of online business, military officers are given ways to drones to secure the environment, doctors and nurses are losing their respect because of the availability of online administration persons is something one must be mind-disturbed. I’m just wondering what would be the usefulness of man’s knowledge, skills and intellectual soonest when all the activities that makes men raise the ergo and command respect is been taken away by artificial intelligence.  Based on a report from moneytimes.com,

Chrome Now Automatically Pauses Flash Content

Recent experienced shows that most user have left Mozilla(Firefox) for chrome web browser.browser of thing are going on your page without you knowing it.This how far google and adobe has gone to make thing easy for all customers using chrome.
Auto-playing Flash content can drain your laptop’s batteries (and, if it’s an auto-playing ad with audio, get on your nerves). Thankfully, Google has now partnered with Adobe to keep Flash on Chrome in check. Starting with today’s release of the latest Chrome desktop Beta, the browser will now automatically pause Flash animations that — in Google’s words — “aren’t central to the webpage.”

Ideally, Google will pause the Flash content it thinks isn’t important right now and still let you keep watching that video you actually wanted to see. In case it gets it wrong, you can always click on the wrongly paused content to resume playback.

office 2016 Racks Up 1M Testers Across OSX And Windows

I was actually feeling like a champion using Microsoft office 2013 never knew 2016 is on the way.So far,I enjoy 2013 alot because of its new features,GUI and flexibility, wondering how office 2016 would look like when is officially launched.
Microsoft’s Office product remains popular, unsurprisingly, given its historical record. According to the software company, more than a million folks are using the Office 2016 preview on OS X and Windows.

So, is one million quite a lot, not that many, or something in between? We have some historical parallels to enjoy, so let’s do that. Using the Windows 10 early-access program, we have a number of figures that we can use to scale the one million figure. To begin, some history:

Mobile: The $20 mobile you only need to charge once a MONTH

Take it or leave it, Nokia has not failed as far as I’m concerned. when you take into consideration or you want to compare the ratio of ''successes and failures'', you will agree that those guys are truly great and I don’t think they are ready to stop amazing her customers worldwide with so much fun, innovations that proffer solution to real life challenge.
Apart from my country facing hell when it comes to constant electricity, there are other countries experiencing worst epileptic power supply which could make this brand phone sell faster than the smarter counterparts.

Technology: Your phone could soon be powered by WI-FI

Forget batteries, your phone could soon be powered by WI-FI: Technology uses radio waves to connect and charge devices

Having to charge your phone to send a message, or standing on a chair to get signal could soon be a thing of the past.

US engineers recently developed technology known as 'ambient backscatter' that taps into Wi-Fi signals and transforms it into power - and have now created a prototype router.
During trials, these so-called PoWiFi routers powered battery-free cameras 17ft (5 metres) away and did so without interfering with the homeowners' web speeds.
The technology was first showcased by researchers at Washington University in August but lead engineer Shyam Gollakota recently demonstrated the prototype router at the EmTech Digital conference.

His team installed its PoWiFi router in six homes and asked homeowners to use it for normal internet access for 24 hours.
Ambient backscatter, also known as Wi-Fi backscatter, on which the technology is based, enables two battery-free RF-powered devices to communicate by 'backscattering' existing wireless signals.

RF-powered computers are small devices that compute and communicate using only the power that they harvest from RF signals.
The router used in the tests sent out radio waves which were then converted into a direct current voltage using what's known as a 'rectifier.'

Why you need to update your skype account

Skype has been a fantastic application ever since I knew how to use it.Some users have testimonies of how their broken home, relationship, lost friends and business partners were reconciled. For me,using skype saves cost of travelling abroad to attend a workshop, keeps the communication smooth when one of the spouse is away for an official engagement.if you are not using Skype I bet, you may be missing something really cool. For those already using it, you need to read and follow the steps.

Honourable Patrick Obahiagbon on an interview with Punch Newspaper..

I can't just help than to deviate a little from the scientific objectives of this blog.Guess you will enjoy it when you read through.

Punch - Did you write exams in school in these big words?

Hourable- I used such words very-very freely in my exams both at the
secondary school and in my university and little wonder I had
the misfortune of my English results being seized intermittently in my O’ Levels.
WAEC released my results for the other subjects and withheld my English result. This happened for
about three years. Twice, I passed the University Matriculation Examination but I
could not proceed to the University because of my English results that...
were not released. At
the end of the day, it was released after the third attempt.

Network to give away chargers to customers using EE

It may interest you If Techno giant is giving out power bank freely to customers when they buy any of their smartphones. So,why do I bothered myself paying extra £20 fee to revive my phone? It seems confusing though, belieeve me,I would prefer to purchase a spare battery, fix it on my phone within three seconds and continue my business conversation.I understand quite alright that most smartphones get drained easily when you need it most as a result of series of activities running on them such as video, music, YouTube and social activities.Trust me,£20 fee is a whole lot.

Eating fast food after a workout may be just as beneficial

I want to believe that prone to ignorance, some of my friends have stopped eating fast food but this article might be of great benefit to those who have long left their favourite fast food for something else. According to a report from dailymail.co.uk, eating fast food is not actually an issue for those that eat fast food and exercise regularly.

Researchers found that during recovery periods between periods of exercise, it didn’t matter what food was eaten.

Performance remained the same after resting for several hours, while levels of glycogen - used by muscles as ‘fuel’ - were actually slightly higher after fast food was eaten as a recovery food.
The research, published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism, was led by University of Montana graduate student Michael Cramer.
In the study, 11 male athletes were asked to fast for 12 hours, before a 90-minute endurance workout.
After this, half were fed hot cakes, hash browns and orange juice, followed by a burger, fries and a Coke two hours later.
The other group were given Gatorade, organic peanut butter and Cliff Shot Bloks, followed two hours later by Cytomax powder and PowerBar products.
Two hours after the second meal, all participants were then ask to ride 12 miles (20km) on a stationary bike a fast as they good.
Each meal eaten by the participants was roughly equal in calories, carbohydrates and protein - although the fast food had more sodium and slightly more fat.
At various intervals, the researchers took muscule tissue samples and did blood tests, to check glycogen levels.
After a week, the participants returned and performed the task again, this time switching their diet to the one they didn’t do last time.
The results showed that, when performing the second exercise task, the times were about the same no matter which meal group the participants were in.
Also, levels of glycogen across the two groups were almost the same - with the fast food group being slightly higher.
No differences in insulin, glucose or cholesterol were found, while neither group reported any serious stomach discomfort.
‘These data indicate that short-term food options to initiate glycogen resynthesis can include dietary options not typically marketed as sports nutrition products such as fast food menu items,’ the researchers wrote.
However, the researchers said that the experiment included a fairly small sample, and the long-term effects on workout recovery of eating fast food over other, healthier sources of food are not known.

Meet the most powerful British woman in the tech industry

I was once disturbed by CEO and political leaders appointing great number of women to hold some strategic positions.Truly,it does't turn out positive always but great luck if you have upto 10 in every 100 women that are productive and efficient.

Obsolete technologies that will baffle modern children

You might be wondering how time flies in terms of technology.
Many of today's teenagers have never seen or used a video tape or a floppy disc. Take a look at some gadgets which will puzzle younger people.
Composed of a thin, magnetic disc and a plastic casing, the floppy disc originally came in sizes as large as 8 inches, but soon shrunk to the more widely-known 3 1/2 inch design. Capable of holding 1.44MB of data, the floppy disc soon lost out to formats such as the 650MB compact disc, which could hold around 450 times more data.

Science:100-year-old California man goes skydiving for his birthday

Back here in my locality,I know how old people looks when they are in their 70 to 80s.Some of them cannot even move their legs let alone jumping.I'm quite shocked and perplexed watching an old man defiling the force of gravity to mark his 100 years birthday.
You may want to know who he is.
His name is Vernon Maynard, a retired car dealer from Palm Desert, Calif. he had always wanted to try skydiving — and a friend helped make his dream a reality in time for his 100th birthday. Maynard says most of his doctors wouldn't give him permission for the daredevil stunt, but his orthopedic doctor finally signed off on it.

While most centenarians are content to simply blow out a candle on their 100th birthday, Vernon Maynard jumped out of an airplane.

Do You think Desktop Computer are dead?

People have been predicting the death of desktop computers for years, and sales of traditional PCs have taken a significant hit since tablets and smartphones claimed centre stage. But the humble desktop continues to play an important role in many people's lives.
Now HP is hoping to reinvent the category with the launch of Sprout, a first-of-its-kind computing platform that is designed to reduce the barriers between the digital and physical worlds and merge 2D with 3D – something that HP calls 'blended reality'.

Lenovo rebuked for shipping laptops pre-loaded with adware

Lenovo installed software on its own laptops which left them more vulnerable to cyber attacks, experts have said
Chinese computer maker Lenovo has come under fire from security experts after it allegedly shipped laptops with adware that hijacks secure website connections and inserts ads into search results.

The adware, known as Superfish, was pre-loaded onto "a select number" of Lenovo's consumer Windows devices, the company confirmed. The issue only came to light last June, when users began complaining in Lenovo's forums in September.

Google opposes plan to let FBI hack any computer in the world

Google is opposing a plan to increase the US government's power to infiltrate computer systems around the world, warning that it will raise a number of "monumental and highly complex" constitutional issues.

In a submission to the Washington committee that is considering the proposed changes, Google said that the amendment would open the door to “government hacking of any facility wherever located”.

Under the current Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 41, prosecutors can only search for and seize property in districts where they have obtained a warrant from the district authorities.

However, the proposed amendment would allow a court within a district where a crime has occured to authorise remote access searches of electronic information located outside the district.

In particular, Google warned that this could happen in cases where the location of information has been obscured through technical means – either through encryption or by obscuring their IP addresses.

Millions of computers may be compromised by US spyware

If you were once a victim to hackers then I believe you will appreciate this content. I'm always perplexed each time I receive complains of how new laptops crash after few days of purchased. Now Kaspersky researchers have cleared the air by revealing the cause.
Kaspersky researchers and former intelligence officers reveal how spies found way to lodge code on disc drives produced by major electronics manufacturers

The US National Security Agency (NSA) has devised a way of hiding spyware deep within hard drives made by several top manufacturers, giving the agency the means to eavesdrop on the majority of the world's computers, according to cyber researchers and former operatives.
That ability was part of a cluster of spying programmes discovered by Kaspersky Lab, the Moscow-based security software maker that has exposed a series of Western cyberespionage operations.
Kaspersky said it found personal computers in 30 countries infected with one or more of the spying programmes, with the most infections seen in Iran, followed by Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Mali, Syria, Yemen and Algeria.

Yeah,it got a point when the governement through the Minister of Information Technology instructed and insisted that all MDAs should integrate their domain name from example.com to example.gov.ng.I guess that was when some people realized that Google has been making billions from other people's content. Websites Google indexes belong to other people and companies. The content of Youtube (who is owned by Google) is uploaded by other people, yet Google earn billions from advertising revenue. Everyone of those people are content providers are is a slave to Google, by lining Google's pockets for free.

App lets you order a new key for your house in the post

I'm just wondering in this era of hackers where cyber security is now the world biggest challenges yet developers are not shy away from new apps. If you asked me it sounds ridiculous though nice concept.
Losing your keys is bad enough, but having to replace the entire lock because you don’t have a key to copy makes things even worse - not to mention expensive.
The KeyMe app promises to take the hassle and cost out of this by letting you store photos of your keys online, and order duplicates in the post.
Alternatively, the US service has kiosks that let you copy keys in an emergency, or share photos with a locksmith in person.
KeyMe is free on iOS but is currently only available in the US. The New York-based startup is

Bill Gates says we SHOULD fear a robot uprising

It is a general believe that some AIs are used to perform certain tasks with less effort. Some of the tasks are fighting of war, monitoring climate change, investigating flood disaster, currently,Alibaba and other online retailers are using them to deliver goods to customers.Scientists are always happy watching these robots perform these tasks without taking seriously the negative effect they may poses on the society.Bill Gates has joined the team that so much believed the increasing number of robots or AIs poses a threat to humanity and there is need to take them seriously. How interestingly will it be when an AI or called it Robot designed to perform a task of eradicating poverty in the world.
In the past year experts including Elon Musk and Stephen Hawking have said the rise of ‘super-intelligent’ robots poses a threat to humanity.
And now Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, too, has joined the voices calling for caution

Samsung's bet on having your watch talk to your car

Samsung is facing a challenge as the internet enters a new era and there are signs that it may have peaked as a major force in technology. Sophie Curtis talks to the company's first non-Korean UK president about how the Internet of Things can arrest falling sales

Change is constant online. The birth of the web in the 1990s went on to connect about 1bn people to the internet, primarily via their desktops; the arrival of the mobile internet in the 2000s put another 1bn online. Now we are entering the third age, which it is claimed will see 50bn devices connected to the internet by 2020. The marketers are calling it the Internet of Things (IoT).

Are there any plans training and equipping the database administrators? read how about 80 million customers account information were stolen in the second largest health insurance company.

Sony Pictures Boss Quits After Emails Hack

Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman Amy Pascal is standing down in the wake of embarrassing emails that were leaked when the studio was hacked.
The movie-production company said on Thursday that she would launch a production venture for the studio in May.
The Hollywood mogul had apologised for "insensitive and inappropriate" comments in the email interactions which included racially charged remarks about President Barack Obama.
During her 20-year career at the studio, Ms Pascal was behind such hits as the last three James Bond films, The Da Vinci Code and American Hustle.
She also backed The Interview, a recent comedy about a plot to kill North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which may have sparked the cyber-attack on the studio in retaliation.
Sony Entertainment chief executive Michael Lynton said in a statement: "The studio's legacy is due in large part to Amy's passion for storytelling and love of this industry.
"I am delighted that Amy will be continuing her association with SPE through this new venture, which capitalizes on her extraordinary talents.

China’s Undermining an Open Internet

The issue with cyber security is becoming unbearable and the world cannot wait to embrace an open internet. We got this report from politico.com that; US and China  are working around the clock to get these threats fixed.
We must work together on reliable cybersecurity.
By J. MICHAEL DANIEL, AMB. ROBERT HOLLEYMAN and ALEX NIEJELOW February 04, 2015
Cyber threats are becoming more diverse, sophisticated and dangerous. Over the past year, we have seen an exponential increase in the number of commercial data breaches and the theft of trade secrets. Malicious actors have proven increasingly willing to disrupt or destroy computers and networks through cyber attacks. And all of this is happening in an environment where we are connecting more and more things to the Internet, from thermostats to power plants.
These trends should be a call to action for both the United States and China, the world’s two largest economies, to work together to improve cybersecurity globally. Like the United States, China has a legitimate interest in improving the cybersecurity of its computers and networks and protecting its citizens and businesses from the threats posed by malicious cyber actors. But aspects of China’s actions, including the direction of their recently announced regulations—which have been billed as a means to promote better cybersecurity—are not the answer. China’s new rules require technology companies doing business with banks to demonstrate that their products are “secure and controllable” by, among other things, making their source code available to the Chinese government, providing the Chinese government with back doors in software and hardware and requiring localization of foreign intellectual property to China. Not only are these regulations inconsistent with international cybersecurity best practices, they are anticompetitive trade barriers.
Requirements that commercial intellectual property and research and development facilities are located in a specific country run counter to the principles of free and open trade that has both supported the global economy and aided China’s rapid economic growth over the past several decades. Our companies should be able to sell their innovative products in China, and innovative Chinese companies want to do business here in the United States. As governments, both the United States and China shouldn’t undermine that engagement—we should encourage and protect it. Such regulations will also limit the inflow of the latest internationally-tested secure technologies into the Chinese market and diminish our collective efforts to improve cybersecurity worldwide.

Alibaba begins drone delivery trials in China

Two years ago amazon started the ideal of using drones for delivery of goods to customers now Alibaba is also warming up  to join the association of drone user.
China's biggest internet retailer says it has begun testing drone-based deliveries to hundreds of customers.
It says the trial will last three days and be limited to areas within a one-hour flight of its distribution centres in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

The company's blog adds that it believes the technology has the potential to speed up deliveries.

Amazon, Google and parcel service UPS are among other companies carrying out more private trials of such aircraft.
Alibaba is using its drones to deliver orders for a specific type of ginger tea, helping limit the maximum weight of the packages to 340g (12oz).

The Tech in Asia blog, which was one of the first to report the development, said the experiment was being undertaken by Alibaba's Taobao division - an eBay-like marketplace that connects third-party sellers and buyers - and would involve 450 shoppers.

Elderly Chinese woman wakes up from coma only speaking English

A 94-year-old woman in China woke up from a coma speaking fluent English — and lost the ability to understand or speak Chinese, hospital officials said.
“I can’t ever remember having a case like this before,” Medic Tao Hou, 45, told Central European News. “We assume that the area dealing with her ability to speak Chinese has been damaged.”.
The family of English teacher Liu Jieyu claims the Hunan province resident had not uttered a single word of English for more than 30 years before she awoke from her coma. She stopped speaking the language after retiring and going to live with her loved ones on the outskirts of the city of Changsha, CEN reports.
Modal Trigger
Medic Tao Hou was flabbergasted by Jieyu’s condition.
Jieyu was rushed to the hospital after suffering what doctors described as a cerebral infarction, which is a a type of stroke where the blood supply is limited instead of instantly cut off by a blockage, according to CEN.
She eventually fell into a coma and medical officials were unsure if Jieyu would survive. But doctors couldn’t believe their ears when they walked in one day and she asked in English, “Where am I? What is happening?”
Jieyu had mysteriously acquired the ability to speak the language perfectly, while simultaneously losing her ability to communicate in Chinese, CEN reports.

The dream of China becoming the world largest economy

Alibaba is trying a new way to convince US businesses to buy more from Chinese manufacturers.
China’s giant online marketplace is partnering with Lending Club, a San Francisco-based company that matches up borrowers and lenders, to enable small businesses to apply for a credit line of up to $300,000 “in under five minutes” to make a payment to a vendor using Alibaba’s e-commerce platform. The credit lines are only good “when purchasing goods from China-based suppliers on Alibaba.com,” the company said in a statement.
Alibaba, whose successful mega-IPO has recently been overshadowed by a Chinese government report that was critical of its business practices, is increasingly courting international business, particularly in the US. The company is looking to expand the Lending Club partnership to the UK and Australia next, a spokeswoman told Quartz.

Why Do Young People Get Grey Hair?

Personally, growing grey hair is one thing I so much dislike when I was at my teen. I did believe  when God is planning to call you home, he signal you by growing grey hair. As little as I was then, I never wanted to die because of the beautiful things I found interesting in this world in spite of challenges.
What amazed me recently, is watching young men at their 30s or less growing grey hair. This puzzled continues till I have the understanding some persons fashionably bleach their hair with all manner of chemicals.
This prompted me to search for ‘’why do young people get grey hair? And below are the results.

Gray hair is recognized as an inevitable sign of aging. People young and old, however, can experience premature gray hair. Although genes are often to blame, there are other causes of gray hair in young people, most of which are controllable. There are certain steps to take that can help alleviate gray hair growth, some of which require a prescription medication.
Process
Within each hair strand is a follicle, which originates under the root and the skin of the scalp. Within the hair follicle are cells which determine the color of the hair. These cells produce pigment called melanin. Gray hair is directly linked to melanin cells. Once melanin cell production slows down, the color changes in each hair strand. As a result, a gray to white color replaces the hair strand's original color.
Heredity
According to Kids Health, a website of the Nemours Foundation, genes are the primary factor in determining premature gray hair. If your parents turned gray early in life, you are likely to turn gray early as well. Harvard's InteliHealth website reports that a study conducted by Scientific American reveals that ethnicity can also play a role in graying. Caucasians are the most likely to gray young, with an estimated 50 percent turning fully gray by the age of 50.

Science: Origin of Bed bug revealed

I remember when I was a teenager; bed bug was like an invincible creature, smart in disappearing as soon as it succeeded in biting you. Less than a minute, you start feeling the bite on your skin. Effort to investigate what bite you could last you 30 minutes, as bad as it is, you may end up spending an hour looking for this evil creature. The fear of contacting bed bug continues that when you visit a neighbour, the chairs could be looking very nice and comfortable but still left you in doubt how bed bug free is those chairs. Read further as melissa Hogenboom report the origin of this evil creature from BBC

Presented by
Melissa Hogenboom
"Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite," goes the familiar phrase. Unfortunately the statistics aren't in your favour, because these apple-pip-sized bugs are everywhere.
Hardly a week goes by without a news story of yet another infestation, and yet they are relatively understudied, says Warren Booth of the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma, US.
Booth and his colleagues have used genetics to unveil the origin of bed bugs. They found that there are two lineages in Europe. They are so diverse, they have almost split into two species.
What's more, their origin lies with bats.
The research, published in the journal Molecular Ecology, provides the first genetic evidence that bats were the ancestral host of the bed bugs that plague human residences today.

Bosses 'call in jeweller to cut off workers' wedding rings

A factory has been accused of bringing in a jeweller to cut off workers' wedding rings as part of health and safety rules.
Unions claimed staff were in tears at having the rings removed, some for the first time since their wedding day.
However, the firm – Becton Dickinson, which makes sterile medical equipment and employs more than 700 people in Plymouth – said it had simply brought in a jeweller to resize the rings to make them easier to remove as part of the safety drive.
A leaked memo suggests the rules have been introduced after a worker lost a finger when they got their wedding ring caught on a piece of equipment.
Dave Springbett, regional officer for the Unite union, said: 'There are women in tears, women whose husbands put that ring on their finger 20 or 30 years ago and it has never been taken off.'
He added: 'I work with plenty of people in factories who wear gloves or tape [over their jewellery], but they have said no to that. They have even had a jeweller here cutting people's rings off

A memo sent out on December 15 said the new rules will come in on February 1, this Sunday, for workers in the operational, warehouse and toolroom areas, and anyone who works with equipment.
But it says stud earrings, necklaces, body piercings covered by clothing and medical bracelets will still be permitted.
While Mr Springbett acknowledged workers had been informed, he said the lack of information in the interim meant they thought the company had changed its mind.

He said: 'Apparently it's on health and safety grounds which is, quite frankly, ridiculous. There is no health and safety reason and no hygiene reason.'
Mr Springbett said that while workers have agreed to the policy, it is only because they had 'a gun to their heads' and wanted to keep their jobs.
A spokesman for Becton Dickinson said: 'We have implemented a policy that excludes the wearing of jewellery, or any other personal items, in those areas in which they could constitute a safety risk.
'We understand that a small number of our associates may be unhappy, and we are sensitive to their feelings, but our overriding priority must be workplace safety.
'We have offered associates who were unable to remove their rings the opportunity for a professional jeweller to come to the site to resize their rings. This is entirely voluntary and the cost is being paid by BD.'

Woman claimed her kidney stolen by doctors

Woman 'had kidney stolen by doctors who tricked her into undergoing surgery by saying she had colon cancer... then sold the organ to traffickers in China'

A woman claims her kidney was stolen by doctors who sold it to traffickers after tricking her into having surgery by saying she had colon cancer.
Xu Xiuying, 48, has been fighting a seven-year battle for compensation after only discovering her organ was missing during a routine X-ray when she complained of backache.
She said: 'I thought it was a result of a genetic defect and assumed I had been born like that, so I didn't think any more of it.'
But when a neighbour alerted her to a scandal involving a trade in stolen kidneys she looked at the matter again.

Xu, who lives in the city of Xiangcheng in central China's Henan province, realised unscrupulous doctors must have removed her healthy organ and sold it on the black market.
Healthy kidneys can be sold for thousands of pounds illegally and a huge investigation has been launched into the trade in China where the illicit operation took place.

Xu, who has found she had two healthy kidneys in 2006 by looking at medical records held by her doctor, was told that she wrongly had colon cancer and faced major operations.
She was admitted to two hospitals over a period of 12 months, undergoing a seven-hour operation in the first.
She had more treatment in the second, but is now unsure when exactly her kidney was stolen.

It was during treatment at a third hospital that she discovered it was missing.
She now claims it could only have happened during treatment at either the Xiangcheng First People's Hospital or the Xiangcheng Suburb Hospital.
As neither hospital will admit responsibility, she is having to sue both of them for compensation for her lost kidney.
A recent offer of a small amount of compensation by the First People's Hospital has been turned down by Xu.
A judicial review confirmed her kidney was removed during surgery and that she was entitled to compensation.
But the courts are refusing to rule on who should pay it because of lack of evidence over which hospital was to blame.

Alibaba who was alleged sales of fakes platforms claimed vindication

BEIJING— Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. claimed vindication on Friday in a dispute with a Chinese government agency over alleged sales of fakes and other misdeeds on its sales platforms, after agency officials said the two sides would work together to stamp out counterfeit goods.

In a statement on its website late Friday, China’s State Administration for Industry and Commerce said that its top official, Zhang Mao, met with Alibaba’s executive chairman, Jack Ma , that same day. It said the two agreed to tackle fakes and boost consumer protection online.

In a separate statement, the SAIC appeared to play down a white paper that it posted on its site on Wednesday accusing the company of allowing fakes to be sold on its platforms and alleging that Alibaba employees took bribes from merchants in exchange for better placement there. SAIC said the statement was an account of a July conversation between SAIC and Alibaba officials and not a formal white paper.

SAIC officials didn’t immediately respond to requests for additional comment. On Thursday it pulled the white paper from its website, without citing a reason.

An Alibaba spokesman said, “the most recent SAIC posting speaks for itself. We feel vindicated.”

Alibaba’s New York-traded shares on Friday were up 1.4%. On Wednesday, the day the SAIC released its report, Alibaba’s New York-traded shares fell 4.4%. They fell an additional 8.8% on Thursday after Alibaba reported disappointing revenue growth in the quarter ended in December.

The statements may resolve a dispute that had put Alibaba—which dominates e-commerce in China and last year raised $25 billion in the U.S. in the largest-ever initial public offering—under a cloud. The company has long grappled with allegations that its Taobao sales platform is home to a large number of counterfeit products.

At the same time, the dispute could also be a precursor to additional pressure on Alibaba as China drills down on intellectual-property protection in its effort to overhaul the economy, pumping up consumption and reducing reliance on cheap labor, exports and big-ticket spending projects.

Such pressure could hurt Alibaba’s results more immediately, but could pay off down the road if handled correctly, said investment advisory firm JL Warren Capital. The company wants to shift more business to its Tmall platform, on which more-established businesses sell goods to consumers, from its Taobao platform, which allows smaller mom-and-pop firms to sells their products to Chinese customers. While Taobao is more dependent on ad sales, Tmall generates more sales commissions, so it pays off as online stores become more established, the firm said.

The SAIC’s broadside against Alibaba was its most aggressive move yet against a major company. It comes as observers say the agency is trying to increase its profile and protect its turf against other Chinese agencies. The SAIC is increasingly flexing its muscles in Chinese e-commerce, a more than $500 billion market by KPMG’s estimate, following complaints by businesses of the alleged availability of widespread fakes.

“They realized that international online trade is growing and it’s going to hit a critical mass,” said Joe Simone, director of Hong-Kong based intellectual property consulting firm SIPS.

The agency oversees a broad array of matters involving market order in China. That includes certain business licenses as well as trademark administration. It also keeps voluminous records on businesses in China, though it makes only partial data available outside of official and legal circles.

Last year it raided Microsoft Corp. offices in China as part of its investigation into how it sells and bundles it software. Microsoft has said it is cooperating. The SAIC also has probed the offices of foreign drug makers, though it never publicly levied any punishments.

The SAIC began working on its Alibaba white paper last year, after China’s State Council, the government’s highest decision-making body, gathered about 30 representatives from foreign and domestic companies to ask them about doing business online in China, Mr. Simone said.

Mr. Simone, who attended along with representatives of other companies, said some told officials that they weren’t doing enough to tackle fakes. Companies recommended that the SAIC police the biggest offenders, he said. Mr. Simone said he told officials, “we have an elephant in the room, and I’m going to name them: Ali.”

An Alibaba spokesman said it has an aggressive antifake effort that removed more than 90 million counterfeit items from its platforms over the past two years.

Experts say that much of the SAIC’s recent moves have been attempts to assert its power and justify its existence. Leaders have stripped some of its powers away in recent years, including food safety oversight. It has waged turf wars with China’s National Development and Reform Commission, the country’s economic planner, over antimonopoly law enforcement, according to attorneys. Last year, the Ministry of Commerce and the NDRC spearheaded probes of prominent auto makers like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler.

Legal and industry experts say that the SAIC tends to be fairly open with businesses, meeting regularly with corporate heads to discuss problems and proposed action plans. In December, Mr. Zhang, the SAIC chief, spoke at a reception held by the American Chamber of Commerce for China, which U.S. Ambassador to China Max Baucus also attended. “The huge market of China and the capabilities and advantages of the Unites States in terms of human resources and technology are bonding us closer together,” Mr. Zhang said. “Harmonious cooperation will benefit both sides.”

Mr. Zhang said in an interview with China’s state-owned broadcaster China Central Television that SAIC posted on its website earlier this month that the agency would be pushing for better service and consumer protection online, where he says he also shops. The SAIC accepted 50,000 consumer disputes for online problems in the first 11 months of last year, Mr. Zhang said in the interview.

“Originally it was all young people, but now middle-aged and older people have entered e-commerce,” he said, adding that “problems are not few” for the sector.

Malaysia Airlines MH370: the black box explained

What is Black box?
Aviation experts warned in March last year that the crucial moments of doomed Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 may never be discovered, as the 'black box’ which records details of the flight may have overwritten key data.
A 'black box' actually consists of two boxes – a cockpit voice recorder and a data recorder. The flight data recorder records a stream of flight information, while the cockpit voice recorder stores conversations and other noises made in the cockpit.
Each of the boxes is about the size of a shoe box and weighs around 10kg. They are made out of aluminium, and are designed to withstand massive impact, fire or high pressure. Although the original flight recorders were painted black, the colour was changed to orange to make them easier to find by investigators.
The Boeing 777 aircraft disappeared on March 8 last year, carrying 239 passengers and crew shortly after taking off from the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, bound for Beijing. In January, Malaysia's government released a statement formally declaring the crash an accident.
The black box on Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 is made by US firm Honeywell Aerospace. It is programmed to record cockpit communication on a two hour loop and delete all but the final two hours.

This is because it is normally the last section of a flight that determines the cause of a crash. In the case of Air France flight 447, for example, the cockpit voice recorder provided a valuable insight for investigators into the confusion that overcame the pilots.
In the case of MH370, however, it is thought that the crucial moment for understanding the flight revolves around the period during which its communications systems were disabled and it took a sharp turn westward before flying silently for about seven hours.
Although the flight data will have survived, the discussion in the cockpit immediately after the flight lost contact with air traffic control will have been overwritten, unless power to the recorder was lost at the same time.
The black box sends out a ping, activated by immersion in water, that can be picked up by a microphone and a signal analyser from about a mile away.
However, the battery of the pinger on MH370 only lasts for 30 days and the mystery may never be solved as the black box has still not been found.
The depth of the area of ocean that investigators were searching ranged from 1,150m (3,770ft) to 7,000m (23,000ft). The detector could have picked up the black box pinger down to a depth of about 6,100m (20,000ft).

A man claimed God told him to cut off children’s heads… then he would be made king

I don't know why the number of insane, ignorant, evil people keep increasing in this world and they go further to think is cool and right to kill innocent people? To be honest with you, hell must be getting pretty full.Below is a story report from daily mail that:decapitated corpses have turned up in the Ivory Coast after a wave of child murders - with one attacker calmly telling police that God had told him 'to cut off children's heads ... and then I would be made king.'
More than 20 children have vanished in the past few months, with their bodies found mutilated.
But one suspected killer was caught after he tried to attack two boys while they were fetching water from a well in in Yopougon, a suburb of Abidjan, on January 25.
Those gathered around the well watched in horror as Cedric, 14, and Souleymane, 10, were attacked by Drissa Coulibaly with a machete.

Souleymane was in shock, but he survived, unlike many victims of a wave of child murders in the Ivory Coast.
He said: 'The man came out with a machete. I fell down. He started to hack at me.'

The would-be killer went after Souleymane, then Cedric, before a soldier from a nearby base saw what was happening and chased the man away.
'I thought he had come to collect water, said Cedric. 'But he pulled out a machete. He tried to cut me up.'
As word spread, soldiers from the nearby base quickly fanned out and tracked down the attacker.
Once in police custody, he reportedly confessed to at least three murders.
Giving his name as Drissa Coulibaly, the suspect wore a red and white robe, filthy after months of living on the street.

He calmly told police that God had told him 'to cut off children's heads ... and then I would be made king.'
'God told me to do this. God told me to cut off children's heads and bring them to him and then I would be made king,' Coulibaby, 38, told AFP from custody.
'I told him that I didn't want to do this but he insisted,' he added.
His goal was to win his 'swords' of royalty, and he said he communicated with God by way of 'angels' in the shape of crows.
'Either he is very intelligent (and pretending to be mad) or he is very crazy,' one investigator said.
God told me to do this. God told me to cut off children's heads and bring them to him and then I would be made king
 Drissa Coulibaly
Cedric's mother, market seller Daniele Kone, was present when the attacker was questioned by troops.
'He's a very confident man. Not a madman,' she said. 'He is used to doing this.'
She told AFP that the suspect 'said he had already killed three children' for Internet clients known as 'browsers', a charge Coulibaly has since denied.
Browsers is the term used for delinquents who specialise in Internet scams and are widely regarded as behind the child murders, though proof is scanty.
Father Norbert Abekan, a charismatic Abidjan preacher, charged in an article last week that some browsers sought 'human sacrifices the better to swindle'.

'Fortunately, his machete was not well sharpened,' Corporal Habib Tito said after the search. 'He was determined to get the two children.
'Had it not been for the presence of one of our men, the smallest boy would be dead,' he added.
At least 20 children have not been as lucky as Souleymane and Cedric.
In the last two to three months, police opened 25 unexplained cases of child kidnappings, followed by murders, across the country.
First Lady Dominique Ouattara spoke out Tuesday against 'horrible and inhuman acts that nothing can justify'.
'It isn't right that parents should grow anxious each time their children go out of the front door of their houses,' she said.
Police called the murder toll extremely high, saying it is 'a real and unusual phenomenon', which has shocked Ivorians and spread fears that youngsters have become victims of ritual sacrifices.
Brindou M'Bia, the director general of national police, has said most bodies have been found 'mutilated, with their genital parts missing, or decapitated'.
'We know the typology of ritual crimes very well,' Interior Minister Hamed Bakayoko added.

People are led to believe that through these crimes, they can gain power or money.'
He said 1,500 police and troops were being mobilised 'to patrol the areas with a high crime rate'.
The spate of child killings has prompted some hysterical responses, from warnings posted on Facebook to alarmist text messages. Kidnappings are reported on an almost daily basis.
'Thieves of children grab them by force even from grown-ups or kidnap them around schools, or even go into homes pretending to be visitors or census agents,' an SMS sent to an AFP journalist charged.
The impoverished west African nation, which has suffered a decade of political and military crisis, is set to hold a presidential election in October.
The wildest rumours about people disappearing for human sacrifice in rituals, particularly albinos, always circulate in the Ivory Coast in electoral years when politicians seek gains at the polls.
The kidnappings have led to calls for action from the U.N. children's agency UNICEF, which urged authorities to do everything possible to quickly identify those responsible.
'UNICEF is deeply worried by the kidnapping of children and the mutilated bodies that have been found,' Adele Khudr, UNICEF'srepresentative in the Ivory Coast, said in a statement.
