Missing N7.9bn

The incredible report of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Account that uncovered a N7.935n discrepancy in the remittance of revenue generated by the Nigerian Customs Service as reported by The PUNCH, Tuesday, March 12, 2013 has exposed the level of corruption in our public service. Recently, Nigeria was rated as one of the most corrupt nations in the world. What a shame? Every sphere of Nigeria is corrupt. Until a law is promulgated that ensures a corrupt public servant faces a death sentence as seen in China and Pakistan, corruption will not end in the country. The committee report discovered that Customs remitted N233.430bn to the Federation Account but generated N241.366bn in 2012.
