Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on Monday directed the newly inaugurated Governing Board of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma to address the lopsided appointments in the institution.
Oshiomhole, who announced a N500 million grant for the institution, told the board members in Benin to appoint more competent academic staff.
He said that the institution was faced with lots of challenges, which included funding, management, transparency and accurate record keeping.
The governor said that though the acting vice chancellor, was doing her best, most issues in the institution were beyond her.
He, however, said that leadership entailed strong will and not sentiments and emotions, adding that good leaders must be courageous to take decisions that might be painful to some but beneficial to all.
Oshiomhole also charged them to make judicious use of the resources and restore peace to the institution.
Responding on behalf of other members, His Royal Majesty, Prof. Gregory Akenzua, pledged the board's commitment to the assignment.
Other members of the board included: Prof. T.O.K Audu, Dr Andrew Iseguan, Prof. Tom Imobighe, Dr Andrew Okhualegbe, Dame Esohe Jacobs, Tony Omoaghe and Dr Godwin Ogboghodo
